Vladislav Miftakhov from San Carlos Arrested In Pa. For Possessing Weapon Of Mass Destruction

A Russian teenager from San Carlos was arrested in Pennsylvania last week for allegedly having a bomb and bomb-making supplies in his apartment.

Vladislav Miftakhov, 18, who is a Russian citizen, was arrested by Altoona police on Friday at his apartment in the 100 block of North Ninth Avenue, near Penn State Altoona.

He is listed as an engineering student at Penn State Altoona.

According to police, officers were investigating a reported marijuana grow operation and found a suspected bomb and bomb supplies at Miftakhov’s apartment.

The Penn State police bomb squad responded and safely deconstructed the equipment, police said.

According to police, Miftakhov told investigators he purchased the bomb materials over the Internet in the past few weeks.

Federal authorities have been notified about the incident.

Miftakhov was arrested on suspicion of possessing a weapon of mass destruction, risking a catastrophe, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possessing prohibited offensive weapons and incendiary devices and recklessly endangering another person, along with other drug charges.

He was booked at the Blair County Jail.

On his Facebook profile he states he lives in San Carlos and was born in Moscow.

Staff at Carlmont High School in Belmont would only verify that Miftakhov graduated from the school in 2013.
