A 24-year-old San Francisco man suspected of being a pimp was arrested for assaulting a woman and for human trafficking in Novato on Friday, police said. Novato police received reports of a fight between a man and a woman at the intersection of South Novato Boulevard and Stone Drive shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday, police said. Officers arrived at the intersection and spoke with the woman involved in the fight.

She told police that the man, who she identified as Vincent Rondel Cleveland, had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. The woman told officers that Cleveland was her pimp and that she also had a relationship with him, police said. She said that he had punched, kicked and beaten her prior to the arrival of police. The woman said Cleveland dragged her against her will toward his vehicle in an attempt to kidnap her, according to police.

She also told police that Cleveland took her cellphone from her before he fled the scene. The woman was then treated for her injuries sustained during the assault, police said. Officers located Cleveland driving his vehicle on Ignacio Boulevard near Alameda Del Prado a short time later, police said. An enforcement stop was conducted and police arrested Cleveland for various felonies including assault, robbery and human trafficking, according to officers.
