Police released a sketch of a suspect in a Thursday morning home invasion robbery in Palo Alto who made two elderly residents lie on the floor as he stole their property. The robbery was reported at about 10:40 a.m. in th 400 block of Palo Alto Avenue, Palo Alto police said. The two residents in their 80s were home alone when the suspects rang the doorbell and forced their way into the house when one resident opened the door, the victims told police.

They forced the two residents to lie face-down on the floor as they stole wallets, an unloaded handgun and other property. The suspects then ran from the house and took off in a “boxy-looking” beige or white sedan, police said. The victims were not injured. Police said the primary suspect, pictured in the sketch, is described as a black man standing 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds.

He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and was unshaven during the robbery. The other two suspects are also black men, both standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing about 160 pounds. They were both also wearing dark hooded sweatshirts with their hoods up and one was carrying a small black handgun. All three men are believed to be in their 20s. The Police Department is asking those with information about the robbery to call.
