An Oakland man was convicted of second-degree murder today for fatally shooting a 19-year-old San Leandro woman at an East Oakland motel in July 2012.
Jurors deliberated for only about a day and a half before delivering their verdict against 25-year-old Andre Moncrease for the shooting death of Tianna Leui at the Starlite Motel at 10000 MacArthur Blvd. at about 3 a.m. on July 12, 2012.
The case was unsolved for about two months before Moncrease was arrested on Sept. 14, 2012.
According to prosecutors, Moncrease has prior convictions in both Alameda and Contra Costa counties for possession for sale of cocaine base.
Moncrease is scheduled to be sentenced by Alameda County Superior Court Judge Larry Goodman on March 14.
