Deputies in Solano County Tuesday morning arrested a man and woman after a search of a car during a traffic stop revealed stolen items were in their possession, sheriff’s officials said. A sheriff’s sergeant stopped a car in the area of Rockville and Suisun Valley roads, in unincorporated Solano County near Fairfield, for a vehicle code violation, officials said.
During the stop, the sergeant determined the driver and passenger were on Post Release Community Supervision and subject to search and seizure. The sergeant conducted a search and found several items in the car that he thought might have been stolen, according to officials. A possible victim was contacted and that victim later confirmed with the sergeant that his car was burglarized and the items in the suspects’ possession were his, officials said.
In addition to the stolen property, numerous pieces of mail from different addresses in Cordelia were recovered. William Burges III, a 35-year-old transient out of Fairfield, and Honora Herrington, 27, of Fairfield, were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and violation of Post Release Community Supervision. Burges and Herrington are being held without bail. They are scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
