Police caught seven people with either outstanding DUIs or suspended license warrants in a sweep in Santa Rosa on Saturday, according to a police sergeant. Officers with dozens of warrants fanned out into Santa Rosa neighborhoods on Saturday in search of high-risk DUI and suspended driver’s license offenders, according to Santa Rosa police Sgt. Mike Numainville.

Police served warrants and arrested seven offenders who had either failed to show up for a court date or violated their probation in an outstanding DUI case, Numainville said. Offenders who are caught may face additional jail time, Numainville said. Special DUI warrant sweeps as well as high-visibility DUI enforcement are key in getting impaired drivers off the roads and heightening awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence, according to Numainville.

Funding for the sweep was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Anyone who sees a driver on the road who they suspect to be impaired is urged to call 911.
