A male victim crashed his vehicle after being struck by gunfire near City Hall in Vallejo Saturday afternoon, police said.
At about 2:30 p.m., police received calls reporting that shots had been fired in the area of Santa Clara and Capitol streets, according to police.
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a crashed black Nissan Maxima.
The driver of the vehicle had crashed into a parked vehicle and a street sign located on the west side of Santa Clara Street before the vehicle came to a rest, police said.
Officers found the driver of the vehicle unconscious and suffering from a single gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said.
The victim received medical aid at the scene and then transported to a hospital where he is listed in grave condition, according to police.
No suspect information has been released and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
