Weight Lifting Grandmother Knocks Down Purse Snatcher Caught on Tape-Watch Video Here

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in this video. Sheriff’s deputies report that on January 1, 2014, at approximately 12:30 p.m., 64-year-old Shirley Rupp, left the Subway Sandwich restaurant on East Sunrise Drive, Tucson, Arizona when an unknown male tried to take her purse. The victim grabbed the suspect by the hood of his sweatshirt and attempted to wrestle her purse back.
A scuffle ensued and the suspect was able to get away with the victim’s purse. The suspect was seen running to the west behind the Safeway shopping plaza. He drove away in a faded green Honda Civic with tinted windows. The victim was able to recover her wallet and purse with nothing missing. She suffered minor injuries to her left arm and shoulder area during the scuffle.
Victim Rupp is a grandmother and credits were weight lifting and aerobic workouts for giving her the strength to fight back and take down the robber and get her purse back.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
