Police officers in Alliance, Ohio and the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force have arrested Robert W. Thomas Jr. after they saw that he had allegedly posted on the internet that he wanted to buy a 5-year-old girl.
Police report that Thomas allegedly said that he wanted the child to be between the ages of 5 to 8, and that he wished to keep the child permanently and “train her to please him.”
Police responded to Thomas and acted like a couple willing to accommodate him. However, they agreed to sell him a 10-year-old and not a 5-year-old girl.
A Task Force officer arranged a meeting with Thomas, where Thomas was allegedly going to pay $400 for a 10-year-old girl. Thomas was arrested when he arrived at a restaurant to allegedly buy the girl.
Thomas is charged with trafficking in persons, attempted kidnapping, attempted rape, and possessing criminal tools. He is being held in Stark County Jail on $2 million bond. Police say he could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
