Juan Solis allegedly in possession of hundreds of pieces of stolen mail arrested in Salinas

A man who was allegedly in possession of hundreds of pieces of stolen mail was arrested in Salinas on Sunday, police said. Salinas police spotted a suspicious vehicle in the 1200 block of East Market Street at about 11:25 a.m. and initiated a traffic stop. Officers made contact with Juan Solis, 30, who was found to be in possession of a burglary tool, according to police.

A subsequent search of Solis and his vehicle turned up hundreds of pieces of mail that had been stolen from a number of neighborhoods including along the Monterey Peninsula and in Prunedale, Lemoore and Hanford. Police also found multiple identification cards, as well as a computer and printer, personal and business checks, vehicle registration tags and credit cards. Solis was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, forgery and mail fraud. He was booked into Monterey County Jail and was being held on $500,000 bail.
