Oakland women killed, male gravely wounded in separate New Year’s Eve shootings

A woman was shot and killed and another victim was gravely injured in a separate shooting in Oakland on New Year’s Eve, police said today. The fatal shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the 2000 block of 22nd Avenue, in Oakland’s San Antonio neighborhood, according to police. The woman who was shot was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

No other injuries were reported in connection with that shooting, and no suspect information was available this morning. Police said roughly 10 minutes later, an unidentified male was shot near the intersection of 104th Avenue and Walnut Street in East Oakland. The victim was taken to a hospital in grave condition, according to police. Police said there was no information about suspects in the shooting as of this morning.
