Aubert Gholston and Frederick Parker recent murder victims shot in Oakland

Oakland police today released the names of two men who were fatally shot in separate incidents on Friday. Police said 26-year-old Aubert Gholston, of Oakland, was the man who was shot to death near Eighth and Campbell streets in West Oakland at about 11:15 a.m. on Friday. Responding officers found Gholston shot inside a car, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police also said that 43-year-old Frederick Parker, of Oakland, was the victim of a shooting in the 2300 block of 96th Avenue, near MacArthur Boulevard, in East Oakland that was reported at 11:07 p.m. Friday. Officers who came to the scene found Parker suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He died at a hospital shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, police said. Oakland police haven’t released any information about suspects or motives in the two shootings.
