The driver of a stolen vehicle managed to escape police custody following a pursuit in San Jose on Friday, officers said. A police officer initially spotted a stolen vehicle in downtown San Jose on Friday night.
The officer lost sight of the vehicle, but another officer spotted the vehicle in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 101 and East Santa Clara Street. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away. The vehicle was located a short time later in the area of Highway 101 and Hellyer Avenue, police said.The driver ran from officers and escaped custody, but the passenger was detained. The passenger was booked for narcotic possession as well as a felony warrant, according to police. The driver of the stolen vehicle was not located, police said.
