Carlos Landeros killed by a hit-and-run driver on Bascom Avenue south of Scott Street in San Jose

A man killed Tuesday by a hit-and-run driver on a major street near Interstate Highway 280 in San Jose has been identified as Carlos Landeros, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office. Landeros, 47, had been walking across Bascom Avenue south of Scott Street when a car traveling north on Bascom struck him, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the car drove away and a witness who noticed Landeros lying motionless in the street notified the CHP at 12:45 a.m. Landeros was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he died of his injuries at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, CHP officials said.
