A Richmond man spent part of his Christmas Day in handcuffs after violating a protective order and allegedly getting violent with officers, a police sergeant said today. Officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Chanslor Avenue in Richmond around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a 37-year-old man violating a protective order involving his estranged wife, Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
As officers made contact with the man and escorted him out of the home, he became combative with them and refused to be handcuffed, the sergeant said. The suspect then attempted to escape and an officer used a Taser on him to prevent him from fleeing, according to police. He was arrested and taken to county jail in Martinez. Police have not released his name.
