Santa Rosa police arrested a transient on suspicion of homicide Tuesday night. Police responded to a report of a possible dead body in the rear alley of the city’s downtown library at 211 E St. around 10:45 p.m. Officers found the victim deceased with multiple stab wounds then canvassed the area for witnesses and suspects, according to police. Officers found a man with blood on his clothing and hands who also possessed a bloody knife, police said.
The man was interviewed by detectives and confessed to the homicide, according to police. The suspect has been identified as Vladimir Sotelo-Urena, a 26-year-old transient who was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, police said. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
