A group of armed men invaded a Fremont home and demanded jewelry and cash from a woman hiding in the house Wednesday evening, Fremont police said. The woman in her late 20s was at home around 5:20 p.m. in the 35000 block of Armour Way, east of Interstate Highway 880, when four men knocked loudly at the front door, police said. At least four suspects kicked down the door when the woman didn’t answer.
She ran into a bedroom and locked the door and called her brother who called police, police said. The victim had just moved to the U.S. and was unfamiliar with the process for calling police, according to authorities. The suspects ransacked the home and made it into the bedroom where she was hiding. They held her at gun and knifepoint and demanded cash and jewelry, police said. She tried to remove her jewelry but the suspects got frustrated and one of the men ripped the gold chain from her neck, police said. After taking items from the home, including small electronics and jewelry, the group of men got into a silver or gray Infiniti SUV, or a similar vehicle made in the mid-2000s.
The victim was not injured, but shaken up after the incident, police said. The four suspects who entered the home are described as black men standing between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall. The first suspect had a medium build and was wearing a gray hoodie, dark-colored pants and shoes and was armed with a black gun. The second suspect had a dark gray hoodie, dark-colored pants and shoes, and weighed about 200 pounds. The third man had a medium build and was wearing a light-colored hoodie and pants. The fourth suspect had on a black jacket, a light gray beanie and light-colored jeans and light-colored shoes. A fifth suspect was driving the getaway car, according to police.
