Teen Killed in Apparent Gang Related Shooting in Las Lomas

A young man was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting that occurred south of Watsonville on Sunday evening, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting was reported at 6:38 p.m. in the 100 block of Las Lomas Drive, in the unincorporated community of Las Lomas.

Deputies responded and found 19-year-old Martin Martinez Vasquez lying on the shoulder of the roadway, surrounded by friends and family, with a serious gunshot wound, sheriff’s officials said. Emergency responders tried to revive him but were unsuccessful, and Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.
