Two sheriff’s deputies were injured and a man described as suicidal is in critical condition after being shot by a deputy this afternoon in Saratoga, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. The deputies were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, sheriff’s Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said.
Deputies received a report at 12:01 p.m. today of a suicidal man in the 12000 block of Saratoga Avenue, near McFarland Avenue, Stenderup said. Fire units were also sent to the scene. The man then got into some sort of altercation with a deputy, who fired at least one shot that injured the man, Stenderup said.
