Two Oakland women were arrested following an attempted robbery of alcohol and baby formula from a CVS in Fremont on Thursday, police said. Officers received a report of a theft from the CVS Pharmacy located at the Fremont Hub Shopping Center near the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and Mowry Avenue.

When the two suspects attempted to leave the store with the merchandise an employee attempted to stop them, police said. According to police, one suspect threatened to beat the employee up, so the employee returned to the pharmacy and called 911. Officers caught up with the two suspects and an additional woman driver in a silver four-door 2006 Chevy Malibu heading west on Mowry Avenue, police said.

The suspects, ages 28 and 31, were identified and arrested in connection with the robbery. The driver of the vehicle, age 34, claimed not to have any knowledge of the robbery. She was cited for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said.
