An 18-year-old man who was killed in a possible gang-related shooting in East San Jose on Saturday has been identified by police as Pedro Dado Cortez. Police received a report at 4:22 p.m. Saturday of a person shot in the 800 block of Peter Pan Avenue, next to Capitol Park just east of Interstate Highway 680, San Jose police Sgt. Heather Randol said. Cortez, a San Jose resident, was found suffering from at least one bullet wound and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 p.m., Randol said.

No suspects have been apprehended, but an initial investigation indicates that Cortez’s murder may have been gang-related, Randol said. The killing was the 43rd homicide recorded in San Jose police jurisdiction so far this year, according to Randol.
