Seven men were shot at a birthday celebration in East Oakland on Monday evening, and one ended up with life-threatening injuries, an Oakland police spokeswoman said today. The shooting was reported at 6:08 p.m. near 96th Avenue and Olive Street, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.
The victims, who range in age from 23 to 31, were found suffering from gunshot wounds and taken to a hospital, according to police. This morning, one victim remained in critical condition and the other six were listed as stable, Watson said. Watson said it appears two gunmen approached the group and opened fire. Oakland police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering a reward of up to $35,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.
