Several suspects remain at large after stabbing a teenage man behind a middle school in Santa Rosa Sunday night in what is believed to be a gang-related attack, police said. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1100 block of Marble Street, near Gardner Avenue behind Lawrence Cook Middle School, at about 8 p.m. Sunday, police said.
When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim reported to officers he was approached by a group of roughly eight suspected gang members who questioned him about his gang affiliation, according to police.
Several of the suspects then punched, kicked and stabbed the victim, police said. The victim was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. The police department’s gang crimes team has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation.
