Police in Lafayette are investigating a robbery at a bank Thursday morning. Officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Westamerica Bank at 3515 Mt. Diablo Blvd. at about 9:10 a.m., police said. The suspect entered the bank and presented a note demanding cash to a teller, according to police. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot east on Mount Diablo Boulevard, police said.

When officers arrived at the bank, they set up a perimeter, and conducted a search with a K-9, but could not locate the suspect, police said. During the search, several nearby schools were locked down. The suspect is described as a man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds with short hair, fair complexion and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a navy blue polo shirt, black jeans, light gray tennis shoes and a baseball-style hat.
