Johnny Angel Castillo felon in possession of a stolen firearm was arrested near Watsonville

A 19-year-old felon in possession of a stolen firearm was arrested Friday evening near Watsonville, according to the Santa Cruz County Gang Task Force. At about 5 p.m. members of the Gang Task Force, a unit on the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, served a search warrant at a residence on Buena Vista Drive.

Watsonville resident Johnny Angel Castillo, a felon and known gang participant, was found in possession of a loaded and stolen firearm, according to the Gang Task Force. Castillo was out on bail on a previous case in which he also possessed a firearm and he was on probation for other criminal matters, according to the Gang Task Force. He was arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for various weapons violations. This is the 23rd gun seizure in 2013 for the Gang Task Force.
