A man was arrested on Sunday evening after officers serving a search warrant at a Martinez home turned up methamphetamine, marijuana, cash and an assault rifle, police said. Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 2100 block of Valente Court at about 5 p.m. that day, police said. When they arrived, they determined that several shots had been fired outside a home but that the shooter had fled, according to police.
An investigation revealed enough information for police to obtain a search warrant in connection with the incident, police said. When officers served the search warrant, they found more than a pound of suspected methamphetamine; more than 10 pounds of dried marijuana; several loaded firearms, including an AK-47 style rifle converted to an assault rifle; and scales and cash, police said. Mario Ruben Pando, 31, was arrested on drug and weapons charges, police said.
