An ex-felon was arrested in Santa Rosa on Sunday evening on suspicion of illegally discharging a firearm and other crimes, police said. Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Westberry Drive, off of Guerneville Road, at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings that came from a semi-automatic handgun, and residents provided a description of a man seen fleeing the area, according to police. Police were unable to find any victims and did not see any structural damage, but an investigation led officers to detain 26-year-old Santa Rosa resident Lino Hernandez, police said. A search turned up a semi-automatic pistol, which was later determined to have been the weapon fired, according to police.
Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, attempted assault with a deadly weapon and violation of misdemeanor probation.
