A pedestrian was killed when a suspected drunken driver crashed into her this morning in San Jose, a police officer said. Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 1200 block of Weibel Way at about 2:30 a.m., Officer Albert Morales said. When officers arrived, they determined that a car hit a pedestrian and a garage door at a nearby home, Morales said.
The pedestrian, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene just before 3 a.m., according to Morales. Her name has not yet been released. Morales said the driver, a 27-year-old woman, was driving under the influence when she hit the pedestrian and home. She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, he said. The traffic fatality is San Jose’s 34th of the year.
