The Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing 54-year-old developmentally disabled man last seen during his release from the county jail in Santa Cruz on Tuesday. Robert Lesner, of Watsonville, who has medical issues requiring medication, was reported missing Thursday by his social worker, according to the sheriff’s office. Lesner has a history of self-destructive behavior, assaults, alcohol abuse and run-ins with law enforcement in Watsonville and Scotts Valley, deputies said.

He is described as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds with blue eyes and gray hair and last seen at the jail wearing blue pants, white shirt, black sweater and red and black beanie cap, deputies said. Anyone with information about Lesner is requested to inform the sheriff’s office at (831) 471-1121. Those who encounter Lesner should not approach him and call 911, deputies said.
