A 17-year-old boy is suspected of killing his mother in their apartment Wednesday afternoon, a police lieutenant said. The teen was arrested for the gunshot slaying of Shauntanae Lashauna Brown, 35, in apartment G-6 at the Marina Vista apartment complex at 201 Maine St., Lt. Sid DeJesus said. Police responded around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday after receiving multiple 911 calls about gunfire inside the apartment, DeJesus said. Officers found a security guard detaining the teen in the manager’s office.
Brown’s body and the gun were found inside the apartment, DeJesus said. Police arrested the boy for murder and he was booked in the Solano County jail. It is the city’s 19th homicide this year. “We’re unsure of the motive and we are trying to establish what took place that led to these tragic circumstances,” DeJesus said. “We’re working with the boy now. We want him to fill in the blanks.” There have not been any previous calls for police at the apartment, DeJesus said. The teen’s father lives in San Francisco and the boy has other siblings.
