Monterey County sheriff’s deputies Friday arrested an at large parolee for having fake checks, drugs and drug paraphernalia after a car and foot chase in Watsonville, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies contacted Bobby Torio, 47, a transient, after attempting to use a fraudulent check at Las Lomas Market, at 182 Hall Road in Watsonville at about 10:55 a.m. Friday, officials said. Torio fled, leading deputies in a car chase, according to sheriff’s officials.

The car chase ended after Torio crashed her car. Torio and another driver were injured in the crash. The crash also damaged roughly $1,000 to a tomato crop, officials said. She attempted to run away after the crash, but was detained by a bystander, according to the sheriff’s office. Torio was found to be in possession of numerous fake checks, methamphetamine and a meth pipe, the sheriff’s office said. In addition, Torio was a parolee at large and had several felony warrants for her arrest.
