A wanted parolee was arrested in Salinas on Friday after leading officers on a car and foot chase, police said. Around 12:35 p.m., officers on patrol spotted 30-year-old Joseph Perez, a parolee and suspect in a recent gang fight, driving near the intersection of Towt Street and Garner Avenue, according to police.

Police said officers tried to stop Perez, but he drove away, leading them on a short chase. He then jumped out of his car and ran away, but was apprehended after a brief pursuit, according to police. Police said Perez was booked into county jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon with gang enhancements, being a parolee at large, evading police and resisting arrest.
