Jose Zacarias arrested for alleged auto burglary in Walnut Creek on Breton Place

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary in Walnut Creek early Wednesday morning after someone caught him inside their car, according to police. Police said that around 5:08 a.m. a citizen called 911 to report seeing someone inside their vehicle in the 2600 block of Breton Place.

The person then fled the area on foot. Officers arrived on the scene minutes later and found the suspect, identified as Concord resident Jose Zacarias and detained him, according to police. Police said Zacarias was also found with stolen property from the vehicle, which was returned to its owner.

He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Zacarias was arrested on suspicion of auto burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to county jail in Martinez. Police said it is unknown whether Zacarias broke into other vehicles in the area without being caught. Residents in the area who find that their cars were burglarized are encouraged to call police at (925) 943-5844.
