A man was arrested after allegedly critically wounding another man in a stabbing in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood on Saturday afternoon, a police spokesman said today. Matthew Anduja, 26, is the suspect in the stabbing, which was reported at about 4:40 p.m. Saturday near Haight and Stanyan streets, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The 34-year-old victim had just left a nearby fast-food restaurant when some sort of dispute developed with the suspect, who then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, according to police. Anduja was identified by witnesses as the attacker and was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and possession of marijuana, Shyy said. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, Shyy said. He did not immediately have an update on the man’s condition this afternoon.
