Police have arrested a man suspected of stabbing another man to death outside a homeless shelter in Richmond over the weekend, a police captain said today. The stabbing happened at about 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Brookside Shelter in the 800 block of Brookside Drive.
Richmond police Capt. Mark Gagan said the suspect, 37-year-old Jeberiah Neptune Moore, of San Pablo, got into a fight with the victim, 49-year-old Larry Kittleson, of Anderson, Calif. Moore allegedly stabbed Kittleson and then fled, Gagan said. He was arrested about a mile from the scene of the stabbing roughly two hours later. Kittleson was taken to John Muir Medical Center, where he died the next day, Gagan said.
Gagan said the men knew each other but declined to discuss details of what they were arguing about. He said Kittleson’s death marks Richmond’s 15th homicide this year — the same number the city had recorded at this time in 2012. Last year Richmond saw a total of 18 homicides.
