Salinas police are seeking two suspects in the murder of a 27-year-old man who was killed Friday in an apparent gang-related shooting, a police sergeant said today. Police responded at 10:05 p.m. Friday to a report of a shooting victim near the intersection of Cortez Street and Mae Avenue in Salinas, police Sgt. James Arensdorf said.
Officers found Alex Hernandez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and had him transported to a hospital, where he died, Arensdorf said. Witness reported seeing a pair of suspects fleeing after the shots were fired, Arensdorf said. “We have very limited information,” Arensdorf said. “Two males in hooded sweatshirts running from the area.” Police believe the shooting was tied to a gang-related dispute, but the murder remains under investigation, Arensdorf said.
