Police arrested a male suspect following a robbery near Natividad Creek Park in Salinas early this morning. Luis Serrano, 29, was arrested in connection with the robbery of a 57-year-old man in the 900 Block of Sage Court. The victim had just arrived home when Serrano approached him, police said. Serrano demanded the victim’s money and the victim complied, handing over an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Serrano then fled the scene on foot, according to police.

A witness to the robbery followed Serrano while keeping a safe distance away. The witness called police and reported that he was following Serrano on foot in the area of Nogal Drive and Freedom Parkway. Officers arrived in the area and detained Serrano. He was positively identified as the robbery suspect and booked into Monterey County Jail for robbery.
