Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder for the death of a man who was found unresponsive outside an ATM in Hayward early Saturday and died on Sunday, police said today. Police said officers responded to a Bank of America ATM at 24548 Clawiter Road at 4:38 a.m. on Saturday after receiving a report of a single car accident in its parking lot. The driver was found unresponsive and suffering from head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment, police said.
Doctors who treated the man discovered that he had suffered a gunshot wound and was in critical condition, according to police. The man died from his injuries at about 3 p.m. Sunday, police said. Investigators learned that the man may have been lured to the ATM location with the intent to rob him, police said. Information then led investigators to two possible suspects and authorities were able to locate and arrest them without incident on Sunday, police said.
They identified the suspects as 21-year-old Alexis Ericiga and 26-year-old Andrea McFall, both of Hayward, who are both in custody without bail. Hayward police spokesman Sgt. Mark Ormsby said police aren’t yet releasing the victim’s name. Ormsby said the investigation into the man’s death is ongoing and Hayward police are working with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office to seek formal charges against Ericiga and McFall.
