A Fremont man was arrested Wednesday for possession of guns and drugs after he reported an alleged burglary at his business in Fremont, police said. Officers received a 911 call from a man in his 30s claiming to be the owner of a business located on Enterprise Street, near South Grimmer Boulevard, that was in the process of being burglarized. The caller told police dispatch that he could hear the voices of a male and female inside an adjacent suite that he also owned.
The man said that the suspects were trying to force open the door that connects the two suites. The man then told police that he had armed himself with a handgun. Police responded to the scene and established a perimeter. The man was instructed to put his firearm away and go outside to the officers. Instead, the man came out of the building with a handgun in his right pocket. He also had cocaine in his left pocket, police said.
Police searched the business, but did not find any suspects. Officers located several firearms lying in plain sight and seized four weapons from the business. The man was suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest.
