Five people were arrested for obstructing a peace officer in San Mateo County early Wednesday morning, deputies said. At about 3:30 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a vacant residence in the 500 block of Palma Street in El Granada on a report of trespassers.

Suspects jumped from the windows and ran from the house when deputies arrived on scene. Deputies commanded the suspects that were still inside the home to come out of hiding. Deputies detained a total of five people. The suspects told sheriff’s deputies that a friend had invited them to the home for a party but fled the scene once deputies arrived.

The homeowners were contacted and said that their son may have invited friends over for a party prior to the sale of their home. The homeowners declined to press charges against the suspects for trespassing, deputies said. The five suspects were arrested for obstructing a peace officer, deputies said.
