A 30-year-old man was shot and killed in North Richmond on Thursday night, a Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said. Deputies responded at 9:38 p.m. to a report of shots fired near Opal Court in unincorporated North Richmond, although deputies later determined the shooting happened in the first block of Silver Avenue, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

The victim, who was suffering from several gunshot wounds, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. He died from his injuries this morning, Lee said. Deputies searched the area of the shooting but were unable to find or identify any suspects as of this morning.
