Published by Junior Staff Writer on September 23, 2013
New York police are passing out flyers urging people to update their iPhones to the new iOS7 update because it will make the phones safer against theft.
The flyer that police are handing out is informing people the new software update gives the smartphone more security because a stolen phone cannot be reprogrammed without an Apple ID and password. It also encourages iPhone users to register their devices with the New York Police Department’s Operation Identification Program.
New York police officers were at subway stops encouraging people to upgrade to iOS 7.
It is reported that the new software update also promotes security through fingerprint recognition, and a thief cannot stop the original owner from locating it after it’s been stolen.
