A man was arrested for possession of a loaded and stolen handgun during a traffic stop in Salinas on Wednesday night, according to sheriff’s deputies. Deputies arrested 40-year-old Mario Robles for possession of a 9 mm Glock 17 semi-automatic handgun. At about 9 p.m. on Wednesday deputies conducted a vehicle stop on a vehicle driven by Robles on San Miguel Avenue near South Main Street for multiple vehicle code violations, according to sheriff’s deputies.
Robles was found trying to conceal the semi-automatic weapon in the waistband of his pants, deputies said. Robles, a convicted felon, was out on bail for another offense at the time, according to deputies. He was taken into custody and booked into the Monterey County Jail.
