Home Owner Shoots Alleged Burglar in Monterey

A homeowner shot a suspect during a burglary on Thursday morning in Monterey County, according to sheriff’s deputies. At about 11:10 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a report of an in-progress burglary in the 1200 block of Sylvan Road, near Del Monte Golf Course just outside of Monterey. During the course of the burglary, the homeowner discharged his firearm at the suspect, striking him, sheriff’s officials said. The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Ivan Stubbs, of Salinas, was airlifted to a trauma center in the South Bay, according to the sheriff’s office.
