A woman who was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband at their Napa home early Thursday morning has been identified as 41-year-old Esperanza Robledo Vega, police said today. Officers responded to an apartment in the 2800 block of Soscol Avenue after a 12-year-old girl called 911 around 3:30 a.m. saying her father had stabbed her mother, according to police. Arriving officers found 42-year-old Carlos Everto Hernandez Vega standing in front of the home with a knife, police said.

Officers told him to drop the knife, which he did before being arrested on suspicion of murder and use of a deadly weapon, police said. Inside, police found Esperanza Vega, who had been stabbed multiple times during an apparent domestic dispute, according to police. Evidence was collected from the apartment and, while in custody, Carlos Vega allegedly told police he was responsible for killing his wife, police said. The daughter of the couple was not injured and was taken into the custody of other family members, police said. No one else was at the home during the stabbing.
