Alaysha Carradine Shot and Killed in Oakland, Police Release Suspect Sketch
Published by Junior Staff Writer on September 11, 2013
Oakland police today asked for the public’s help in identifying a man they say is a suspect in the death of Alaysha Carradine, an 8-year-old girl who was fatally shot while she was at a friend’s home for a sleepover in July. Police released a sketch of the suspect and described him as a black male between the ages of 17 and 24, standing roughly 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, with a thin, dark mustache.
They said he was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue jeans at the time of the shooting. Alaysha, who would have been a third-grader at Fruitvale Elementary School in Oakland this fall, was one of four people who were hit by gunfire when someone fired shots into an apartment at 3440 Wilson St. in East Oakland through the front door at about 11:15 p.m. on July 17.
The three other victims, a 4-year-old boy, a 7-year-old girl and a 64-year-old woman, survived but Alaysha was killed.
