A former Stanford Hospital technician has been arrested on suspicion of sexual battery for allegedly fondling a patient, Palo Alto police said. Police arrested 35-year-old David Ira Bradford, of Fremont, Sunday night. In late February, a woman in her 40s reported to police that she was sexually battered during her brief stay as a patient at the hospital’s Clinical Decision Unit earlier that month, police said.

She told investigators that a hospital employee had inappropriately touched her genitals and breasts on at least two occasions while she had been semi-sedated, according to police. Bradford and the victim did not know each other prior to the alleged crimes, police said.

The hospital administration worked with police to identify the suspect. After investigating the allegations, police arrested Bradford at about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 34000 block of Calcutta Drive in Fremont. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on an arrest warrant for felony sexual battery by fraud, felony sexual battery of a hospitalized victim, and misdemeanor sexual battery. Detectives are not aware of any additional victims, police said.
