David Ricardo Urueta Shot and Killed in Unincorporated Salinas

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed in unincorporated Salinas early this morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded around 12:50 a.m. to a report of a shooting in an alleyway near 419 Hyland Drive and located a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds, sheriff’s officials said.

The man, later identified as Salinas area resident David Ricardo Urueta, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s officials said witnesses at the scene described hearing multiple gunshots and seeing people running from the area. Investigators have not located any suspects in the killing.
