San Jose Police Press Release 9/6/13
The San Jose Police Department has arrested a suspect in the September 3rd murder of Reina Figueroa that occurred in the 1700 block of San Antonio Street in East San Jose.
On September 3, 2013 at approximately 12:44 P.M., The San Jose Police Department’s 9-1-1 Communications Center received a report of an unresponsive female who was located inside a vehicle on the 1700 block of San Antonio Street in East San Jose. Upon arrival, patrol officers located the victim, later identified as 49 year old Reina Figueroa, inside a vehicle. The victim Figueroa was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the ensuing investigation, San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified Oscar Ayala as the person responsible for Figueroa’s murder. Ayala was arrested on September 4th and booked into jail. Ayala and Figueroa were known to each other.
Oscar Ayala stands six foot eight (6’8) and weighs approximately 300 pounds giving him a distinct appearance. Detectives believe residents may have seen Ayala on foot in and around the area of San Antonio Street and Jackson Avenue over the Labor Day weekend.
