On August 28, 2013 the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force along with the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) concluded an investigation into the illegal sales of marijuana from Avenue Liquors, located at 2147 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City.  During the investigation San Mateo County Narcotics Agents, working in an undercover capacity, purchased marijuana over the counter from the owner.

The investigation culminated into the issuance of a search warrant for the location.  The search of the store revealed approximately 150 individually packaged grams of marijuana.  Further evidence of sales including a scale and packaging was also located.  The owner of the store was taken into custody without incident.

The liquor store is located in a small strip mall.  Located next to the store is a young children’s learning center.  Also located in the mall is a children’s gymnastics facility and dance studio.  ABC is conducting a subsequent investigation into the stores liquor license.  The suspect is currently out on bail.
